JIM Harvey is pleased his promotion chasing Morecambe men have a week off to relax and recharge the batteries ahead of a series of 'cup finals'.

The Shrimps have been playing two or even three games a week but after Saturday's 1-0 win over Dagenham and Redbridge, had a clear seven days before this weekend's crunch at Accrington Stanley.

That's another massive game for Harvey's men and he says: "This game is a cup final, as is the one after that and the one after that - they are all big games.

"So it is nice for the players to have a clear week - because we have four games in quick succession coming up.

"It gives them the chance to get over any bumps and bruises and focus on Saturday's match."

The 1-0 win over Dagenham really pushed the Shrimps back into the play-off mix and followed hot on the heels of a thrilling 0-0 draw with Aldershot in midweek.

The Shrimps could easily have won that game and Harvey says: "It was good to get three points against Dagenham and we probably deserved three points against Aldershot as well, but that's football."

Morecambe make the trip to East Lancashire high on confidence and with skipper Jim Bentley back in action.

The dependable defender was forced off at the interval of the Dagenham game and Harvey explains: "Jim went into the game with a touch of food poisoning.

"He thought he was okay until he started running about - but he is better now."

The manager also praised leading scorer Michael Twiss, who won Saturday's game with a wonder goal.

"Michael has done so well for us this season - and his goal was really good," adds Harvey.
