FLORRIE Nenortas had a surprise birthday present from the Post Office for her 85th birthday.
Among the cards was a notice stating that there was an item to collect from the sorting office because the postage was underpaid and she owed £1.21.
That always make you wonder what it can be and dash off to collect it.?
Well in Florrie's case she is virtually housebound and at first she thought about taking a taxi to claim it, then changed her mind and decided to withhold her excitement until she saw the postman next day.
He kindly agreed to take the notice to the office for her, and when he returned she was gobsmacked to discover that all it was was an ordinary card carrying a second class stamp, just like the others that had been delivered.
But for the generosity of her postman Florrie could have been well out of pocket.
In cases like this I'd suggest ringing the sorting office in future, and put this down to just one of those things that happens, but shouldn't.
