PUPILS at a village primary school were encouraged to tell plenty of tales last week to mark National Book Week.
And Bury-based children's author David Webb spent last Thursday at St Mary's RC Primary School in Hawkshaw reading to youngsters and holding workshops for older pupils.
Teacher Mrs Kath Husband said: "David had the children transfixed as he read to them. The pupils came back with an interest to both read and write more.
"Thanks to very generous parents who bought books, the school raised £450 during the week. The money will go towards buying more books for the library."
