CAMPAIGNERS for the Re:d Centre have been knocked back in their first legal bid to save the centre from budget cuts.
A High Court judge has refused to allow them to seek a judicial review into Bury Council's decision to halve the Morley Street centre's funding.
However, their solicitors are seeking a review to be heard in open court, rather than judged purely on written submissions. They should know the outcome within days and, if successful, plan to take a delegation to London to argue their case.
Mrs Geraldine Greene, chairman of Hurdles, said: "Obviously we are disappointed, but we are all parents and grandparents of disabled children and we face obstacles and tough challenges every day. This is just another challenge. We are not curling up in a ball and going away: we are undaunted, our hopes are high, and we will be pursuing every avenue."
