WELL-known former teacher Mr Reg Joynson, who was the president of Unsworth Cricket Club, has died at the age of 72.
Mr Joynson, who lived in Hathaway Road, Sunnybank, collapsed and died last Friday (11). He leaves a wife, Jean, sons David and Mark, and a brother, Bill.
After working in his family's china business in Cleveleys, he entered education in 1962 and taught the sciences at Whitefield Secondary Modern and at Castlebrook High School from 1982. Before his retirement 12 years ago, Mr Joynson was the head of the upper school. He had also served as a governor at Castlebrook.
In his younger days, he was a keen sportsman. He played for Sedgley Park Rugby Club and Unsworth Cricket Club. In the late 1990s, he became the cricket club's president and held the position until his death. He was also a member of the Radcliffe 41 Club and Bury Stamp Club.
A service and committal will be held at Blackley Crematorium next Tuesday at 10.30am.
