A VICTIM of an attempted mugging sustained a broken nose, two black eyes and other injuries after being targeted by thugs.
However, the 39-year-old male bravely fought off his attackers who at one point attempted to wrench a watch from his wrist. Now, police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened between midnight and 12.30am on Saturday in Rufford Drive, Whitefield.
The victim was approached from behind and struck on the back of his head, causing his spectacles to fall. The thugs continued to punch him on the head and face as he lay on the ground and tried to steal his watch. But the victim fought back and the robbers made off empty handed. Because he was attacked from behind, it is unclear as to how many offenders were involved in the incident.
Officers said the man sustained two chipped teeth, a fractured nose and two black eyes in the attack.
