A RAMSBOTTOM company has been recognised for its commitment to dismantling barriers to mainstream employment faced by the disadvantaged.
Future Frames received a special runners-up award after working in partnership with Bury Employment Training & Support (EST) to provide jobs for two disabled clients. The Whalley Road-based company, which manufactures window frames, featured in the awards event organised by Manchester Employer Coalition.
Future Frames was shortlisted for the "promoting ability" category award, sponsored by Jobcentre Plus, which sought to reward companies which recognise and benefit from the talents and skills of disabled people.
Earlier, company owner Mr Jimmy Wilson, who has since sold the business, worked with Bury EST officers to offer permanent posts to two disabled people, one of whom is profoundly deaf. Mr Wilson said: "We are very pleased to have received this award as we are only a very small company. Ive told Bury EST we would have no hesitation in employing someone else if they were suitable."
