A MUCH-loved former cook from a Radcliffe primary school has died, aged 84.
Mrs Ellen Mills, who was the first cook at Cams Lane Primary School when it opened in 1976, died suddenly on Tuesday, March 8, in Red Bank House, in Lowe Street.
The mother of two enjoyed her time at Cams Lane, but when she retired at 64, she decided to take another job, and worked for a further ten years on the tripe stall on Radcliffe market.
Mrs Mills was born at home in Holland Street in 1920, and later moved with her family to Ainsworth Road.
When she wasn't busy working, Mrs Mills enjoyed ballroom dancing and would travel across the north west to take part in her hobby.
Her family also kept her entertained and she enjoyed spending time with her four grand-daughters, one great grand-daughter and children,
Val and Ian.
