BURY'S men are being urged to take a Big Step Forward and walk their way to health.
A programme of walks have been arranged by Bury Council and Bury Men's Group at various locations in the borough over the next three months.
The first takes place on Sunday with a 30-minute walk through Bury town centre, starting at 10.30am from the Castle Leisure Centre. Leading the way will be the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Barry Briggs, and Bury North MP David Chaytor. There will be a bottle of water and a piece of fruit for those who complete the walk.
Bury Men's Group have secured an Awards for All grant to deliver the Big Step Forward project. The first 30 men to sign up for the project, which will also monitor the miles walked and any improvements in fitness, will get a free pedometer. Men can sign up using the website www.thebigstepforward.org.uk
