POLICE suspect a 30-year-old man whose body was found at a house in Darwen died from a drug overdose.
The man, who has not yet been named, was found by friends in Sandon Street on Saturday morning.
Two people have been quizzed over the death and released on bail pending further inquiries.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at around 11am after occupants of the rented property called an ambulance to report the man's "sudden death."
A post mortem examination was carried out on Sunday and detectives said early indications were the known drug user had died from an overdose.
Inspector Stuart Bruce, of Blackburn Police, said: "At this stage, we are treating the death as suspicious as we have yet to establish why he was in the property and exactly how he died."
Meanwhile, the death has stunned Sandon Street residents. Resident Eileen Barton, 49, said:"I knew something was wrong was when I saw an ambulance outside the house as I returned from doing my shopping.
"This is the sort of place where neighbours look out for each other, not a street with a drugs problem."
And Royston Fielding, 55, added: "I saw the ambulance stopping a few doors up around 11am. It is shocking as this is a really quiet area."
