AN award-winning pub is still pulling in the honours.
For the popular Garsdale Country Inn in Woodhill Road, Bury, has scooped two prizes in the licensed trade's annual Morning Advertiser Best Pub Awards.
The Brandlesholme hostelry, run by licensee David Heyes and his wife, Gillian, was named overall regional champion for the north region and also landed the national prize in the pub promotion of the year category.
Earlier this year, the Garsdale achieved triple success in another competition and over the years has won numerous prizes.
Commenting on the latest awards David said: "It's a fantastic achievement to win these awards and everybody here is absolutely delighted at the news."
The pub's success was announced at a glittering awards dinner in London.
Their winning promotion included a mail shot to 1,000 homes and businesses giving details of the pub's menus and Christmas programme. This was followed up by a telephone call from members of staff. The result? Christmas turnover more than doubled. And to complete the service, every party that had booked tables received a phone call in the New Year to check that everything had been to their liking.
David added: "We wanted to find new business, impress people with what we had to offer and retain them as long-term customers."
The husband and wife team took over the Garsdale in 2001 and undertook a major refurbishment and brought a distinct family feel to the pub
