HOWARD Burkhardt is so right when he complains of the utter insensitivity of the new pensions payment system.
My mother is 91 and, like so many others, can neither see properly nor remember what day it is, let alone a pin number.
But there is a way, Mr Burkhardt, within the system, for someone like our dependents.
Simply ring the pensions provider and point out that your mother-in-law can neither see nor remember, and they will send her a weekly cheque which she can cash at the Post Office.
It works for her, Mr Burkhardt, and anyone else similarly affected, and she doesn't even have to turn up on a given "pensions day".
J D MORTIMER (Mr), Edge End Lane, Great Harwood.
