I AM 60, a pensioner since last August 2004 and I pay nearly £70 per month tax on pension, plus council tax less 25 per cent.
I am a single person living in my own home. I have a carer plus meals on wheels as I am disabled, but that makes no difference. I pay for my meals on wheels, TV licence, gas, electric, food, dentist, glasses, etc.
We get no help until we become 65-years-old -- why? I heat my house the same, I eat the same, I watch television the same, I pay for all the things people think I get for nothing!
My late husband who died age 50, worked hard for us to own our home. Now it's hard to get help.
H Hamer (LET, March 17) your woe is felt by other pensioners too because I want to know why we are not treated the same!
You are right, we are not the chosen few. Why?
E HOLT, Elizabeth Street, Accrington.
