CAMPAIGNERS are one step closer to getting a speed camera erected on a Radcliffe road which has been branded the worst in the borough.
Bury Council has submitted an application for the camera to be sited along Bolton Road in the town, after a series of tests were carried out along the stretch.
Protesting residents called for extra safety measures to be taken after the death of teenager Natalie Pickwick-Jones, killed by a speeding driver at the junction of Canute Street in February 2004.
Her parents, David Jones and Elaine Pickwick, of Olsberg Close, have since fought to have a permanent speed camera sited on Bolton Road in a bid to cut the number of accidents caused by speeding drivers.
