"WORTH every penny" is how headteacher Paul Heaton described his head cook, Carole Kay.
Mrs Kay, who has worked at St Mary's Primary School in Radcliffe for 18 years, is celebrating 25 years in the school kitchen.
The children and teachers at the school in Belgrave Street helped Mrs Kay mark her silver service with bouquets and kind words.
Mrs Kay (59), who lives in Radcliffe, said: "I worked in other schools when my children were young before starting at St Mary's.
"I love it here, that's why I have stayed here and on school meals for so long. The children are so lovely and my grandchildren are at the school too, so I get to see them every day."
Mr Heaton, said: "Mrs Kay is absolutely delightful. We couldn't wish for anyone better. She's fabulous and the children love her."
