IF Councillor Mike Connolly needs more than one "incident" in order to sack National Car Parks (Letters, March 11) then I am happy to oblige.
On Friday evening, March 11, parking attendants were quite rightly booking cars parked opposite St Anne's church, Tottington, near Carmello's restaurant in Chapel Street.
The problem was that, while doing so, they parked their van with its front wheels well over the double yellow lines and half the vehicle on the pavement outside the entrance to the church hall. They were causing an obstruction to traffic and a danger to families collecting their children by car from Cubs.
When my husband pointed out to the attendants that they parked illegally and were causing an obstruction he was told: "We can park where we like".
The second incident relates to two NCP parking attendants who stopped their van on the zig-zag lines outside the school in Hawkshaw at 9am to have a chat! Children were coming and going with the poor Lollipop lady trying to do the best she could.
When I challenged the attendants I was again told: "We can park where we like".
The common denominator here is the appalling attitude of all four attendants.
I have absolutely no problem with parking attendants doing their job, and I have a huge amount of sympathy for the abuse they must be subjected to day in, day out. But if the general public have to park within the law, then surely so do they.
DISGUSTED,
Tottington.
