POLICE were today trying to trace the movements of a car involved in a collision which resulted in the death of a Padiham pensioner.
The 77-year-old local man was crossing Burnley Road around 7.35 on Easter Sunday when he was hit by a green Honda Prelude, travelling towards Burnley.
He died from his injuries at Burnley General Hospital.
Police said they were not naming the man as they had difficulty tracing his relatives.
Traffic police closed the road for two hours for accident investigations and are appealing for witnesses.
Police said he crossed the busy road near the junction with Hambledon Street and the One Stop shop convenience store.
Pedestrian traffic lights were out of action because of nearby roadworks.
Sgt Russ Gregory, of Colne Road Policing Unit said: "We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the car involved in the collision earlier in the evening so we can put together a picture of exactly what happened."

l Police are also continuing a witness appeal after a man was killed as he walked along the A671 Whalley Road.
The 33-year-old was hit by a Ford Mondeo at 11.30pm on Saturday. His death was the fourth on the road in the last five years.
Police said they could not yet name the man as all relatives were yet to be informed.
