ON Thursday, March 17, entertainment at Bury Photographic Society was provided by our secretary Mr David Crabtree.
For many years David has been a climber and his presentation was entitled "The Magic of the Munros" (Mountains in Scotland).
I must say that this was a very interesting lecture; the climbs all took place between 1984 and 1992. The talking part of the presentation was very good with all sorts of escapades taking place and the photography was excellent. The views of Scotland from snow covered mountains were stunning. When you consider that they were carrying heavy rucksacks, protective clothing, wearing crampons and carrying ice axes, to take some of the pictures he took really takes some doing.
Well done David, this was a good night's entertainment and I think everyone present enjoyed it .
On March 31 we are holding another of our image workshops, and the subject of this will be taking photographs of glass - not the easiest thing to do - but it should be very good.
April 7 brings us to the first round of the bi-monthly open slide competition for 2005, there are five of these running through to December and the judge for this event will be Margaret Suddaby LRPS CPAGB from Southport. Margaret is a very good photographer and known to many in the north west.
Anyone interested in photography please contact us on 0161 724 0615 or 0161 761 1874 or visit us on Thursday evenings at the function room at Fishpool Liberal Club on Thursdays at about 7.30pm. Beginners are most welcome whether you use film or digital equipment.
