A MORECAMBE student is appealing for local people to help her promote a convention in aid of a children's charity.

Victoria Stapleton wants local fashion designers, artists, models, dancers and actors all to back her second 'My Little Pony' get together later this year.

Victoria (pictured), of Lancaster Road, was surprised when her first event attracted enthusiasts from across the globe to the Platform in Morecambe.

Official My Little Pony author Deborah Birge and toy manufacturers Hasbro even attended the event last December.

Now the Lancaster Adult College student is seeking help with the follow-up convention pencilled in for November 12 - with all proceeds going to the Starlight Foundation, a charity which aims to improve the lives of seriously and terminally ill children.

Victoria says: "As there are running costs of £4,000 to cover, we are also asking for donations from local people to help us meet these costs and enable us to donate the proceeds to the foundation."

And she is confident that this year's convention will be even more popular than the first, with more than 700 people expected to attend.

Among her plans are a My Little Pony fashion show which will give designers and enthusiasts the chance to exhibit themed clothes, while models of all shapes and sizes will be needed to showcase My Little Pony outfits.

Local artists are invited to contribute My Little Pony paintings or photographs - both for display and to raise money at auction. Stalls selling My Little Pony art will also be welcome.

Pony picnics, film viewings and a My Little Pony shopping trip are on offer to supplement the main convention which will take place on November 12 at Manchester's New Century House.
