VOLUNTEERS from two Great Harwood community groups are joining forces for a spring clean of the town.
Great Harwood Prospects Panel and the Community Action Group will be taking to the streets, parks and open spaces to pick up litter.
The spring clean is an annual event in the town's fight against litter and all local residents are invited to help.
Brenda Vickery, chairman of Great Harwood Prospects Panel, said: "We want lots of people from all over the town to pitch in to clear their own areas. Once people have helped to pick up litter and clear an area we find that they are less likely to drop litter in the future and they tend to take more pride in their local environment."
She added that unwanted furniture, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans that are too good to be thrown away can be recycled by phoning Maundy Grange on 01254 232328.
Residents should call the council hotline on 01254 399988 to get rid of bulky items that cannot be recycled.
The groups would like to encourage people to organise teams to take part in the clean up, which takes place on Saturday starting from the Co-op car park on Queen Street, at 9am.
Anyone interested should contact the Prospects Foundation on 01254 380675.
