TORRISHOLME produced the shock result of the season as they upset Premier Division leaders Kirkby Lonsdale to book a spot in the final of the Adam and Gaskell Cup.

The first division title-chasers outplayed Kirkby throughout the game - but only had a Craig Holme goal to show for their efforts. But that was enough to earn them a final date at Giant Axe on April 27 to meet Storeys.

They beat Cartmel 2-1 in a game ruined by strong wind.

Goals in each half from Nicky Pinnington and Carl Harwood saw them home, although they were forced to survive a tense final few minutes after Paul Airey halved the deficit.

The Premier Division was reduced to just two games - but all of those were relegation six-pointers as Slyne-with-Hest moved off the bottom thanks to a 2-1 win over Arnside.

Tony Morgan and Jeff Crossley netted for Slyne, those goals coming after Ben Lenton had given Arnside the lead.

Boys Club, who dominated long periods of their game with Caton only to lose 3-1, have replaced Slyne as cellar dwellers.

They missed a whole host of chances but still took the lead through Liam Morgan, though joy was short-lived as Caton bounced back thanks to a brace from James Kemp and a Lee Beniston 30-yarder.

Title favourites Highgrove moved menacingly into second spot in Division One as two goals each from Scott Doherty and Luke Ogley gave them a 4-0 win over Swarthmoor.

Highgrove are just three points behind leaders City Contract Services with nine games in hand, while Torrisholme have six games in hand on the leaders, who seemed to suffer a touch of jitters on Saturday.

They were held to a 3-3 draw by Millhead - and the result could have much worse had it not been for their keeper.

He made a string of fine saves but was still beaten by Carl Cochrane, Phil Tattersall and Dominic Wooff, although Lee Kilifin, Robin Cooke and Simon Marshall levelled matters.

Scott Burrows and Alisdair Daggart scored the goals for Cartmel Reserves in a 2-1 win over fading Vine (Paul Barker), while Richard Walsh (two) and Byron Nixon were Galgate's scorers in a 3-0 win over Allithwaite Rangers.

Chris Morrow scored for Morecambe Royals Reserves, but Lee Watson was on target for Community Sports in a 1-1 draw.

And Burton Thistle and Slyne-with-Hest Reserves shared four goals in an entertaining game. Darren Taylor and Chris Pievey scored for Burton, Matthew Harrison and Paul Karim doing likewise for Slyne.
