RADCLIFFE Swimming Club has been given a grant of £4,607 by the Local Network Fund to promote and develop girls water polo.
The grant will be used to purchase lightweight goals and other equipment, to fund a course for water polo coaches and to pay for pool time.
The Club already has an active water polo section with teams competing regularly from mini level to senior mens competitions.
However, with this grant the club hopes to attract more girls to actively participate in the sport.
The award was presented to Neil McCheyne, the Water Polo Secretary, by Victoria Hawkins. Victoria learned to play water polo at Radcliffe Swimming Club and is now a member of the Great Britain Ladies Water Polo Squad.
The club already has a number of girls of a good standard and it is hoped the grant will help more girls to become proficient in the sport.
The first session will be on Friday, April 15, from 7-8pm.
Any girls interested in attending must already be good swimmers.
