GOLBORNE High School has added a sporting extra to its top class facilities - a spanking new Astroturf pitch.
It was officially opened recently by Leigh Centurions players.
The Multi Use Games Area is a massive 60 x 40, complete with floodlights, and means the school and community sportsmen and women can take advantage of the winter months, training and playing whatever the weather or time of day.
PE Teacher Ged Staziker said: "This is a superb facility which will enthuse both teachers and students. We are all looking forward to using this surface in both lessons and after school activities."
Chairman of the governors, Bernard Holt, said: "This is an excellent, additional facility. We already have six new tennis courts alongside the new Astroturf. The community has gained so much over the last few years with our outstanding GCSE results and now facilities to match."
