A WHITEFIELD textile artist is appealing for creative people to join her in her craft.

Margaret Birtwistle - or Maggie Bee as she is known - currently has a textile exhibition at Whitefield Library, in Pinfold Lane.

The Image of Egypt exhibition features an array of patchwork and embroidery depicting Egypt, pharaohs and pyramids.

However, the embroidery expert is giving other talented people the chance to create their own textile masterpiece in a competition.

The challenge, entitled Anything Goes, is to create a mini-quilt or wall hanging using fabrics in a special pack available from the library.

There is no particular theme and entrants can add any embellishments, decorative stitching and additional fabrics to reflect their individual personality.

The challenge is open to all ages and abilities and the closing date is May 31.

The winner will recieve a selection of Maggie Bee hand-dyed fabrics and all entries will be displayed in the library from July 5-8.
