I LIVE on the Holme Avenue estate in Brandlesholme and am at my wits end. Summer is here and our peace and quiet is over already.
We are subjected to gangs of youths on the estate congregating outside Tescos on Brandlesholme Road every evening then making their way down on to the field on the estate, laden with alcohol.
This results in them causing a disturbance late in the evening and cars being stolen and burned out on the field.
I have also been told that they have shown my small son pornographic magazines and thought this was funny.
I would love to be able to take them to the play area built for the children on the estate, but you try playing basketball on a court covered in broken glass from the youths drinking sessions.
We are subjected to the noise of motorbikes being driven around the estate all weekend by under-age children. The bikes are unfit for road use and are driven erratically and if they damage our cars it will be our money that pays for the repairs.
Also I would like to know why planning permission was given for the Millers Homes estate to be built with no thought to the current residents' safety.
There have been no measures put in place to make the roads on and off all the surrounding roads safe, such as a roundabout.
The cars are driven at ridiculous speeds in all directions. We have requested on many occasions that we have speed humps on the estate but the council have refused. As the weight of traffic has greatly increased I find this should be a necessity now.
It would be interesting to know if other residents are having the same problems.
