PARENTS can have their first glimpse of plans for Radcliffe's new £17 million high school.
Residents are urged to attend a presentation on Tuesday at the Riverside West Campus - formerly Radcliffe High School - and have a say on the concept.
The new complex is due to open in September 2007 and will mark the final phase of the re-organisation of secondary school teaching in Radcliffe, which was launched with the federation of Radcliffe and Coney Green high schools in 2003 and their formal launch as the new Radcliffe Riverside High. It will be built on the former East Lancs Paper Mill site with its playing fields on restored landfill at Tower Farm.
Tuesday's presentations will last no more than 15 minutes and will begin at 6.30pm, repeated until 8pm, when visitors can make comments and ask questions.
The council's vision for the East Lancs site is for a mixed-use development which incorporates the new school. It is part of the Reinventing Radcliffe project which will see 250 houses built on the Coney Green site and 200 at the Radcliffe High site.
Further plans for a "SUN Quarter" are in the pipeline, centred on the former Kwik Save store, bus station, Dale Street post office and the market hall.
