A FAMILY who have lost four cats in 22 months under the wheels of cars are appealing to drivers in Findlay Street to slow down.
In April last year the children wrote to me to tell me their pet had been run over, well it has happened yet again.
This time mum tells me that their gentle giant, Spike, was knocked down by a driver leaving the beauty college in a style that Michael Schumacher would be proud of - and didn't stop.
One of the students who witnessed the incident took the cat's collar off and phoned the family, an action for which they are grateful.
Sadly, he was not killed outright and with the help from a by-passer, he was taken to the vets and put to sleep because he was too badly injured to survive. Now she has three upset children plus a vet's bill of £37 to pay.
She claims that traffic is getting worse every week racing along the street which joins Railway Road and she wouldnt be surprised if its not long before a child is hit.
Some may say to lose so many cats in such a short time has to tell the family something, either not to get another or keep them in.
That's easier said than done in both instances, but I must say it sickens me the number of felines I see flattened on Atherleigh Way, the latest just last week.
