A LEIGH bodybuilder has muscled his way to the top after being crowned regional champion - in his first ever competitive event.
Paul McNamara, aged 29, beat off stiff competition to win the class three category at the North West championships held in Southport last month.
Mr McNamara also became the overall champion in the event, held at Southport Floral Hall.
He was trained by Paul Crook at Leigh based body-building firm Powerbecks Sports.
Mr Crook said: "Paul did really well in his first championship to win the North-west title. We are all delighted for him and hope he will continue to do well in body building."
