I'M writing about "Out-Of-School playing fields review urged" (LET, June 7).
I wrote a letter on this subject on March 8 saying that the Darwen new town Academy shouldn't be built on the Redearth Road site but should be on the Belgrave Mill site.
I have now heard that there is asbestos in this building so it would cost a lot of money to sort the problem out.
So now I would say that this new Academy should be built on the site of Moorland High School as it has playing fields on site.
There is no site in the town centre suitable to have playing fields near the new Academy so it's ideal to have it up at Moorland High School site.
I would propose that Blackburn with Darwen Council should rethink their plans to knock down people's homes in the Redearth area and build the new Academy there.
I read that Ofsted had put the new Academy at Middlesbrough in special measures and criticise the lack of outdoor facilities. I hope the councillors will change their minds.
A D GORDON (Mr), Brighton Terrace, Darwen.
