LEIGH Under 15s moved to the top of the league with another convincing win which was their third of the season.
After comfortably accounting for Haydock away and Newton-le Willows at home they destroyed the hopes of Highfield who themselves had aspirations to become league leaders.
Having decided to bat first Leigh were given an excellent start by Matthew Hibbert (16) and Gary Fox (20) which set things up for another top class innings from Kieran Grundy who took full advantage of the short boundary to include four sixes in his half century. He was partnered by Alex Goodland whose 33 not out included several hard hit boundaries.
A generous helping of 27 extras helped the score along to a healthy 147 for 3 off 20 overs.
Highfield were 10 for 4 after being shattered by brilliant bowling from Grundy (3 for 4) and Shepherd (1 for 6). These two were then removed from the attack to give the other bowlers some much needed match practice and Jonathan Gregory, Alex Goodland and Robbie Millward all picked up a wicket as the visitors closed on 97 for 8.
