WIGAN and Leigh Cavaliers visited Warrington Wizards on Saturday in the Totalrl.Com RLC Conference fixture played at Wilderspool.

Injuries meant the Cavaliers had only two subs and eventually it took its toll with the team down to 11 at one stage.

Both sides tested each other in the early exchanges and the Wizards took a 2-0 lead with a penalty goal after 10 minutes. But the Cavaliers responded with an unconverted try from hooker Zac Paterson after 16 minutes.

The Cavaliers lost prop Chris Miller and full back Chris Reynolds with injuries but regained the lead with a fine try from forward Michael Prince who blasted his way over from close range for a try goaled by Damien Fishwick. Five minutes before half time, Fishwick making a more than impressive debut, scored a try converted by himself to make the half time score 18-8.

The second half was a was a hard affair with both sides creating chances but failing to take them. With 20 minutes remaining and down to 11 fit men the Cavaliers conceded a converted try. They hit back and after good presure increased their lead to 20 -14 with two well taken drop goals from Fishwick.

With 10 minutes remaining Wizards put the result in the melting pot with an unconverted try. With one minute remaining The Cavaliers forced an error but the Wizards won the ball against the head and swept down field to score the match winning converted try.

Man of the match was Craig Timmins with Damien Fishwick second and Michael Prince third.
