ATHERTON Councillor and strawberry teas fund raising champion Robert Splaine talked about the history and work of the Christie Hospital at Astley WI.
He spoke of the work and research continually being carried out at the hospital and the many volunteers who fund raise to buy the expensive equipment needed.
The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Pensioners' Centre, Manchester Road, Astley, at 7.30pm, and the speaker at the next meeting is from the Body Shop. New members are welcome.
