FESTIVAL organisers have thanked Atherleigh councillors for the support they gave to the annual Atherton Festival.
Anne Turnock, Susan Loudon and Mark Aldred donated cash from their Brighter Borough Fund to support a number of key events including paying for a luncheon speaker and donating prize money for the bowling competition.
During the same week the library celebrated its centenary and the trio contributed the cost of an entertainer for youngsters.
Cllr Loudon said: "It is wonderful to be able to support our town in such a positive way. I hope that the festival goes from strength to strength."
Cllr Turnock added: "We also supported the festival market on the bank holiday weekend donating half the funds to run this popular activity. We were also there all day behind the stall of Atherton environmental projects helping them to gain funds to make Atherton a greener and brighter place to live. Can I add a "well done" to the festival committee and a big thank you to Mavis Harris who organises most of the events. I am really looking forward to next year."
