A FIRE crew from Bury found themselves hot on the tail of a serial arsonist.
The team were on mobile patrol during the early hours of Saturday in the Mile Lane area when they spotted a "For Sale" sign on fire in the garden of a house.
As they quickly doused the flames, a firefighter spotted another sign on fire further up the road. In total the crew tackled five burning "For Sale" signs in Mile Lane and Watling Street.
A spokesman for Bury Fire Station said: "It was obviously someone who had a bit too much to drink and was torching signs for fun as they made their way home. Unfortunately, we were always one step behind the culprit who disappeared."
