Ajay Chapanery of Lower Penwortham SPAR was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Asian Trader Awards 2004.
The awards are the biggest and most prestigious in the Asian retailing calendar and were presented at an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
They aim to raise standards in the entire independent retailing sector by rewarding and recognising the best stores. 1,200 people attended the event where the Home Secretary was guest speaker.
This year SPAR won nine retail Industry Awards. Ajay, who is 23 and manages SPAR Lower Penwortham with his father, said,
"It's great to be recognised for our hard work within the community.
"We are committed to meeting the demands of the community.
"This award would not have been possible without the support of James Hall & Co who have offered advice and support throughout".
