I refer to the letter from A Waghat (May Issue). Quite frankly his comments that the Council is racist are a disgrace. How does he substantiate this statement?
His comments regarding planning applications are simply untrue. The Labour group does not 'do its utmost' to block applications from the Muslim community. Any examination of the Councils records will show that applications are treated on merit and according to the prescribed rules and regulations which are in no way racist or anti-Muslim.
Regarding Bicknell Street Mosques planning application the fact is that only one Labour Councillor voted against the application - the Labour Group had not voted to reject the application at all.
