RE Letters, June 10: it is about time that all the Bibles/holy books were removed from every establishment on this earth as they have long produced nothing but discontent, violence and atheism.
Is not the workship of God, itself, more important than dwelling over a compilation of words which for the most part have been handed down from mouth to ear? This ceremony combining the bible of the Christians, the Books of Law of the Hebrew, the Koran of the Muslims, the Magi of the Persians, the Sultras of Buddha, the Kings of the Chinese, the Vedas of the Hindus, etc., are all beautiful, inspired holy books of those times.
Men have slaughtered each other in disagreement as to their interpretation, or to set one before or over another, each one calling the other pagan, unbeliever, heathen, men worship these books. Is not the worship of God itself more meaningful than a compilation of words and that word "worship" this should not be the attitude toward God? God is to be used not worshipped.
Take a human relationship as an example. You have a good father. He feeds, clothes and educates you. He advises you how to approach and succeed in all the phases of life but instead of using this good foundation of your individual life, you go abroad mouthing his advice with gusto, asking others, "Did he mean this? Perhaps he meant that?"
Are you not mocking all he has tried to do to set you on your individual path of life and use what he has given you both in person and by example, of what use is the respect, the reference you pay him? Would it not be better if you used his gifts of substance and wisdom? And perpetuated his gifts by using them? Using him? Never mind the fancy words and the bowing and the banging of one's head on the floor, this will give you nothing but a headache. God doesn't want you to grovel, but to stand erect and be in belonging.
Put your shoulder to the wheel, deeds not words is what the Prophets taught.
