WALKING through the Longfield Precinct last week, a sight I witnessed just beggars belief.
A young mother, her offspring in his/her pram, emerged from a bakery holding what looked to be a pastie, half bag-wrapped.
Before eating it, she proceeded to break off the outer sides, discarding them on the ground at her feet, notwithstanding the fact there was a litter bin nearby.
Within minutes of her leaving the area, several pigeons swooped to eat what had been discarded.
All this occurred outside a coffee shop whose door was open, it being a warm day.
No matter how much money Bury MBC spends on trying to improve the area, with mindless, ignorant individuals such as this young mother, I would ask: What is the point?
The level of litter and dirt in the precinct is nothing short of disgusting and, indeed, a health hazard with so many pigeons in evidence.
