I AM writing in response to the article about the condition of St Margaret's new church yard and the complaint by Ms Gallagher (Guide, June 10).
As a member and former treasurer of the church, I would like to stress that every effort is made to keep the church yard in good order.
However, we do encounter problems when contractors do not keep to their arrangements and at the present time, we have been let down badly.
Many of the congregation's relatives and friends are buried in this church yard and it causes us distress that the grounds have been allowed to get into this state.
I can assure you that we are doing our best to rectify the situation. I would also like to point out that this is not a council churchyard and is solely maintained by the church and its present congregation.
We do not charge for maintenance and many mourners do tend the graves regularly.
