MULTI-million pound plans to transform Bury town centre will be unveiled to the public.
Thornfield Properties will hold a two-day exhibition and invite residents to comment on the £150 million regeneration of The Rock Triangle.
The developers say the project will create 2,500 jobs and boast 40 new shops and a large department store, a multiplex cinema and bingo hall, along with restaurants and cafes.
The scheme will also include a new medical centre, 100 flats, better transport and pedestrian links, and 1,250 multi-storey car parking spaces. The United Reformed Church in Rochdale Road will be relocated to a new church building.
Thornfield have presented the revamped plans to senior Bury councillors, and will shortly confirm a venue for the two-day July public consultation.
Councillor Wayne Campbell, leader of Bury Council, said: "These proposals provide excellent opportunities for Bury to thrive in coming years and will attract new business for the benefit of all the community. The proposals will provide a vibrant new quarter for people to live, work, shop and be entertained."
A planning application is likely to be submitted in the autumn. If permission is granted, preparation work could start on the new church later this year, with the other elements starting next year and finishing in 2008.
