YOUNGSTERS from Radcliffe have been asked to put forward designs that could be used as part of an exhibit in Close Park.
More than 90 young children from Radcliffe Hall Primary School will contribute to the design of a sculpture for Radcliffe's Green Flag park, off Dumers Lane.
Artist Mark Jalland has been commissioned by Bury Council to work in partnership with the council's park ranger service and children from Radcliffe Hall.
A number of interactive workshops are being held to give pupils the opportunity to explore their ideas through art, led by the artist himself, and through dance, led by dancer and choreographer Ruth Jones.
The ideas that come from the workshops will be used by Mr Jalland to create a stimulating and unique sculpture for the park later this year.
The sculpture will become a focal point at the entrance, from which a theme will be created to run through the rest of the park.
On July 1, some of the artwork by the pupils will be exhibited in Close Park alongside a dance performance.
Councillor John Byrne, the council's executive member for environment and transport, said: "This is an interesting and exciting project that we hope the schoolchildren will find very rewarding."
