RESIDENTS in the borough could be the first to try out a community transport scheme.
Bury Council and the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) are looking to identify a pilot area, and they want local people to tell them what the service should look like and where it should run.
The principles of community transport are that is run by local people for local people, is close at hand and is friendly.
A major feature is that it is "not-for-profit" and it provides transport to meet a need.
A form is included in the council's newspaper, Bury Metro News, which is being delivered to peoples homes. Ideas should be submitted by July 1.
Council policy officer Julie MacKenzie said they needed to identify potential need and demand.
