A HEART stopping moment inspired Nadine Lewis to turn entrepreneur.

The mother-of-three's panic when she lost one of her two toddler twins in a busy Trafford Centre spurred her to create a range of kiddie-tagging ID products that are now taking the country by storm.

In three years, Identikids, the business that she set up in her Radcliffe home to re-unite lost children with their parents, has grown into a million pound turnover enterprise. The firm's products are on sale in national high street chains including Boots and Mothercare.

Mrs Lewis, a former human resources worker, said: "I believed the heartache experienced by my son Jordan and me in that shopping centre nearly three years ago, was something that could be avoided.

"More importantly, I knew mums and dads all over the country would want to protect their children from the all-consuming fear and isolation caused when a child goes missing."

Mrs Lewis, who now shares an office in Bury with husband David, thought a simple ID wrist-band carrying the name of the child and a mobile number for the childs carer or parent would be the most simple and direct way of reuniting the lost child with his or her loved ones.

The product range now includes single use wristbands that come in packs of 15 for £4.50, a range of reusable and silicone versions and a child car seat identification card carrying a photograph, name and medical details for use in the event of an accident.

Mrs Lewis added: "The most rewarding thing about this business are the hundreds of letters and emails I get from grateful parents who have found the system really works."
