I WAS delighted to read that the Citizen is launching a campaign to revive the Western link road to the M6.

I am glad you agree that the Northern route will be a complete waste of money because it will not solve the Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham gridlock. Not only will it not solve the problem, it will spoil acres of prime farmland, ruin the landscape and cause untold misery to people living close to it in Torrisholme and Cross Hill.

The southern option - known as the Western route - may cost more initially but it will cause less disturbance and and wildlife effected will always adapt

On top of that, the M6 junction 34 has been difficult with short exits, and to add extra roads will make it even worse. It would be much easier to make changes at junction 33. Even Geraldine Smith MP agrees the Northern route will not work.
