SINGING sensation Harry Mondryk seems to be following in the footsteps of his brother when it comes to performing.

The talented eight-year-old has been taking some tips from older brother Max, who recently won through to the final of a talent contest.

As reported in the Guide in April, Max (10), of St Joseph's Avenue, Whitefield, wowed judges with his impersonation of his pop idol Freddie Mercury.

He didn't win the final but Max's talent has now rubbed off on Harry, who is also taking centre stage.

Harry is to appear on a new Channel Five television show, which is similar to a Pop Idol competition for youngsters.

Entitled Kids Talent Show, the programme comes from the makers of Fame Academy and is due to hit our screens later this year.

Harry was selected from more than 1,000 entries to be one of 100 contestants who will feature on the show.

He has been invited to audition at the famous Sylvia Young stage school in London and this will be televised, along with the plight of other young hopefuls.

Proud mum Sally said: "He may get knocked out at the first audition but to get in the final 100 from so many entries is some achievement. All we did was send off a video tape of Harry singing I want you back by the Jackson 5."

If Harry was to win the contest, he would be offered a year's scholarship at the Sylvia Young stage school.

Sally added: "He would absolutely love it, but I'm not sure if I could bear to let him go! At the end of the day, it would be his decision. I'm very proud of both Max and Harry, as they have only been singing a few months. It's nice to see them doing well at something."

Both boys attend Bury-based Stagecraft, which is run by family friend Wendy Rees.
