FUN was the key to success as the Accrington Rotary Club held its annual Disabled Sports Day.
For competitors enjoyed a wide range of sports at Hyndburn Sports Centre -- whether it was simply to sample a piece of the action or impress watching selectors who are looking to pick a team for the national finals.
Sportsmen and women took part in a total of 10 sports which ranged from archery to snooker and rifle shooting to swimming. And with other sports such as darts, bowls, table tennis, boccia and weightlifting, there was something to suit all tastes.
Jaqui Hide, Accrington Rotary Club's disabled sports organiser, said: "There was a competitive edge to the competition with medals up for grabs for the winners. But the whole emphasis was on fun and there were certainly lots of people who enjoyed themselves.
"
Mark Read tasted victory in two events and finished with a personal tally of three medals. For Read won the slalom, table tennis and picked up a silver medal in the rifles.
Peter James-Robinson also enjoyed a treble success, winning gold in the snooker and silver medals in the slalom and bowls.
Trudy Barker showed both strength and accuracy to come out on top in the rifle competition, where she was overall top marksman, and also the women's weightlifting.
In the men's weightlifting, Clive Mancock took gold with Dave Burns winning silver. However, the positions were changed in the archery contest. Joe Barton went away clutching two medals after winning the boccia and finishing second in the swimming.
The National Rotary Club finals take place in Coventry in November.
