I WAS astounded to read a letter from the deputy leader of the Labour group recently, regarding area councils in Hyndburn.
In the words of Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it."
In his letter David Myles says: "At no time has the Labour group been unsupportive of area councils, if anything the opposite is true."
What absolute rubbish, balderdash, poppycock.
Let me quote from a Hyndburn Council meeting on March 2, 2005 when the Labour group put forward a written amendment to the Conservative Budget for 2005/2006.
The amendment quite clearly states that to save money the Labour group would "End area councils from July!"
The Conservative group has been vigorously promoting the expansion of area councils for some years now and the most satisfying content of Councillor Myles' letter is the fact that he has now seen the light and is supporting our lead.
Coun LYNN WILSON, Conservative Councillor, Edge End, Great Harwood.
