A MOTHER who died after taking a "killer" ecstasy tablet was experimenting rather being a regular drug user, police said today.

Sheena Fenton, 42, collapsed and died before paramedics reached her home in Green Street East, Darwen.

A man and a woman have also been ill for several days after it is thought they took tablets from the same batch.

The death of Mrs Fenton and the effect the pill had on the other two victims has prompted police to launch an urgent hunt for the dealer behind the- batch of pink, heart-shaped pills.

Officers today appealed for anyone with any information whatsoever about the origin of the drugs to come forward.

Mrs Fenton's family have been too upset to comment about her death, on Friday.

DS Claire Holbrook, leading the investigation, today said: "The initial indications are that Sheena Fenton was not a regular drug user."

DS Holbrook also said they had raided a home in the Sunnyhurst area of town after a tip-off that the tablets taken by Mrs Fenton were being sold there.

A man has been arrested and bailed on the suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs but police said the case was unconnected to Mrs Fenton's death.

Although that information eventually proved to be incorrect, DS Holbrook said it illustrated the action they were willing to take to ensure the drugs were taken off the streets as soon as possible.

Police recovered a small number of the tablets from Mrs Fenton's house.

The tablets recovered from Mrs Fenton's house have been sent away for analysis to see what is making them so dangerous.

DS Holbrook added: "They have gone to toxicology but these things take time, unfortunately."

Meanwhile officers were hoping they may get answers from a post mortem examination which was taking place yesterday.
