I was amazed at the report of yobs stoning firemen in the Burnley Wood area of Burnley (June 27).
I would like to know what would be the reaction of the "do-gooders" in today's society if the firemen were to turn their hoses on the yobs.
Secondly, why can the police not provide an escort for the firemen in areas of the town where these occurrences take place?
If, as usual, the police quote a "lack of resources and manpower" -- earlier today driving down Todmorden Road, a police speedtrap vehicle was parked about 20 metres beyond the fixed speed camera.
Perhaps a crackdown on motorists is more productive than a crackdown on the jobs that are making areas of Burnley and no doubt most towns in Lancashire reminiscent of the Wild West.
