A PLANNING application for the Lancaster Northern link road is to be deferred following the public outcry about the proposal.
Morecambe and Lunesdale MP Geraldine Smith has met Lancashire County Council to try and find out why the blue route (Western) link road from Heysham to the M6 was dropped.
And she says that during the meetings she discovered that the application for a Northern link - due to be lodged in December - has been deferred until a later date.
"They have decided to defer because of the problems it has caused and the public outcry. It means they are listening to people," she says.
She is also looking to work with Transport Solutions for Lancaster and Morecambe to look at alternative ideas for the transport package required for the district, such as park and ride schemes and better public transport.
